About Me

First and foremost, I am a parent.

I am a mother to four grown children, two boys and two girls. Having spent many years with them on the home front, I understand school routines, soccer practices, dance classes, art lessons, class projects, homework, birthday parties and everything in between. In a nutshell, I appreciate families and the overwhelming joys, alongside stressful time management issues, that are  part and parcel of our lives. When an academic struggle becomes an additional factor for our child, support is invaluable.

I love working alongside children and enjoy discovering how each child learns best. My degree is in Child Development from the University of Illinois. After my years as a stay at home mom, I enjoyed working in the public elementary school in the kindergarten classroom, the library and the reading lab. My experience at home and in the school setting has given me dual insight into both the family and academic worlds.

Children struggling with dyslexia need a specialized approach. My training in the Orton-Gillingham approach for dyslexia from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education allows me to address that challenging situation with direct, explicit mullti-sensory instruction.

We all hope for our children to engage in, and embrace their own learning. That’s a tall order when there is an obstacle. Let’s work together to guide your child to reach their potential confidently and while having fun!
